This Tuesday, the developer unveiled Plunderstorm, a free-to-play Battle Royale set in the World of Warcraft universe. Within the latest content update notes 10.2.6, the developer introduced a standout feature: Plunderstorm, the Battle Royale mode of World of Warcraft with a pirate theme. According to Blizzard’s revelations, matches will host up to 60 participants and will last between 10 to 15 minutes.

Naturally, the last one standing will emerge victorious. Additionally, throughout the match, players can level up and acquire abilities and spells by defeating creatures and enemies.

How to Play Plunderstorm?

First and foremost, it’s crucial to note that this game mode will only be available for a limited time, spanning a few weeks. Furthermore, playing Plunderstorm is entirely free, requiring only a World of Warcraft subscription. Below are the steps to dive into the action, whether you’re a WoW Classic player or in the modern client.

For Classic Players:

  1. Launch the Battle.net desktop application.
  2. Click on the World of Warcraft icon at the top. If the icon is not visible, click on “All Games” and select the game from the list.
  3. At the top of the installation button, there is a dropdown menu. Confirm that you want to install World of Warcraft.
  4. Click on Install.

Using the Modern WoW Client:

  1. Select Plunderstorm from the World of Warcraft game menu to jump into action.
  2. Create a new character ready to play. Player characters are unique and specific to the event. No prior knowledge of races and classes is needed to chart a course towards chaos.
  3. Choose between solo mode or, if you prefer to play with a Battle.net friend, open the Plunderstorm character screen and select duo. If you queue for duos without a partner, one will be automatically assigned to you. You can also access chat, customize characters, and view the queue from the character selection screen.
