VALORANT takes a major step towards becoming the tactical shooter to dominate the market

VALORANT has quickly become one of the most watched titles on streaming platforms such as Twitch, nor has it struggled to break into the mainstream eSports scene. It currently has different competitive leagues in all regions of the world and will soon officially launch in China.

Like movies, video games also want to enter the Chinese market, as it is an important source of revenue. So far, Riot Games and Tencent have not been approved by China’s gaming regulator, according to reports.

VALORANT comes to China

However, Tencent has worked to bring six video games, including VALORANT, to the market. Dot Esports reports that gamers had to use a virtual private network to connect to the Hong Kong servers.

Although China is one of the most restricted markets for new products from abroad, they had a presence at the World Cup with EDward Gaming, a team that beat Korean club On Sla2ers in the East Asian tournament.

In August 2022, video game licensing in China was temporarily suspended and only at the end of this year has several titles, VALORANT among them, been given the green light.

Will China have enough to dominate in shooters as well? Let’s remember that China currently dominates in different eSports such as League of Legends or Dota 2, but they have not excelled in CS:GO.
