8. August 2023 by miranda angeles

All those who love Riot Games’ shooters have good news. It has recently been reported that VALORANT Mobile closed beta is now available. However, it is important to note that it is only available in China. Following the launch of the PC version in the Asian country last month, Riot Games has started testing VALORANT Mobile as a closed beta in that region.

VALORANT Mobile closed beta – China

According to information revealed by Insider Gaming, VALORANT Mobile has begun a closed beta test in China. Just three weeks after releasing the PC version of VALORANT in the Asian nation, Riot Games and Tencent have now released this preview of the Android version. It is important to note that the VALORANT Mobile beta version is incompatible with iPhones.

However, this does not imply that players outside China can download the mobile version of VALORANT shortly. It is important to note that this version has been specially designed for the China region, as with the PC edition. In addition, the closed trial will only be accessible until the end of August (registration opened last Friday).

VALORANT Mobile

Recall that Riot Games announced the creation of VALORANT Mobile in June 2021, when it celebrated the tactical shooter’s first anniversary. However, two years have passed, and we have seen nothing so far.

Since that announcement, many players have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the game’s Mobile version. However, in all this time, no details have been revealed about how the adaptation Riot Games is working on internally in the Californian company will be. What has been confirmed is that the Chinese version of VALORANT Mobile will be different from the rest of the world.

On the other hand, in 2021, Riot hinted at the possibility that this mobile adaptation will be the first step in turning the series into a transmedia product. It is arguably similar to what they did with League of Legends.

“Riot is now preparing to expand the franchise, starting with VALORANT Mobile. This way, players worldwide can enjoy VALORANT wherever they are.”

In an interview with Esports Inquirer, Whalen Rozelle, director of operations for Riot Games’ esports division, commented as follows:

“People are anxious to get updates on VALORANT Mobile. We have not provided any information and are intentionally not providing any updates. Since I believe that as soon as we do, players will start asking when it will be released and thousands of other questions.”

For its part, since the launch of the closed beta in early 2020, VALORANT has achieved remarkable success. Thousands of players love the mix of Counter-Strike-style tactical shooter gameplay with hero-shooters like Overwatch. That’s why thousands of people worldwide eagerly await the release of a mobile version of VALORANT.
