VALORANT: KRÜ announces Daveeys death at 23 years of age

The esports world mourns the death of a great VALORANT player. Santiago “Daveeys” Ruiz, a young VALORANT player only 23 years old, passed away on September 3.

KRÜ announces the death of Daveeys at the age of 23.

Undoubtedly, this is difficult to write, but unfortunately, KRÜ Esports, a professional esports team based in Argentina, has delivered the worst news with one of its players. The esports team confirmed yesterday, September 4, that Daveeys had passed away on September 3.

According to information published by KRÜ Esports, the young player he was passed away one day after his 23rd birthday. On the other hand, the Argentinean team has commented that the player suffered a decompensation and then passed away.

Although no details of the cause of his death have been given, decompensation is like heart failure. So, the player would have had some problems pumping blood from his heart.

The young player had a promising career in the world of VALORANT esports. The Colombian professional has been part of KRÜ Esports since October 2022. After several months of difficult competitions, Daveeys helped his team qualify for the VALORANT Champions through the VCT Americas Last Chance Qualifier last July.

For his part, the Colombian player had played in the last VALORANT World Cup with KRÜ. The team finished in 13th-16th place, but more importantly, Daveeys fulfilled his dream of competing at the highest level.

Statement from KRÜ Esports

Yesterday, KRÜ Esports issued a statement informing of Daveeys’ passing on its Twitter account. The statement reads as follows:

“It is with great sadness that we must notify you that Daveeys passed away after experiencing decompensation on Sunday. There is no way to make this more bearable; it has taken us completely by surprise.”

“Daveeys was an excellent player, but more importantly an excellent teammate. Daveeys dreamed of competing in the VALORANT World Cup and saw it come true.”

Separately, KRÜ has also shared a statement from his entire family, thanking them for attending a ceremony in his honor to be held in his hometown on September 5 in Colombia.

Colleagues and friends say goodbye to Daveeys

Following the terrible news of Daveeys passing, several VALORANT players and friends of the Colombian have expressed their condolences.

Nicolas “Klaus” Ferrari, a KRÜ teammate, commented that Daveeys was a loyal friend who was always there to cheer you up when you had no strength. He also commented that he will always remember his great friend. On the other hand, much of the VALORANT community has expressed their condolences to the family and friends of the young Colombian.
