Tfue ends streaming career – burnout?

Tfue ends streaming career – burnout?

21. June 2023 by Andrew Williams

Turner “Tfue” Tenney used to be a well-known Fortnite pro and then became a popular streamer. Despite being very successful, he has now come forward with a tearful video explaining that he will be taking an indefinite break from streaming for the time being because he feels “trapped” in it. Many fans suspect a burnout. Even before the announcement, he had been in hiding for months.

Tfue is one of the most well-known content creators around Fortnite. The American has participated in many tournaments and won several, while being live on a regular basis  making him one of the most famous Fortnite players in the world.

Who is Tfue?

Tfue was born on 2 January 1998 in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. He started his career playing games like Call of Duty and Destiny, but gained a lot of attention when he switched to Fortnite. He’s also been known to occasionally stream games like Minecraft and Fall Guys. He even got his own Fortnite bundle!

Tfue often attracts tens of thousands of viewers with his daily streams. He’s known for his high-level gameplay, entertaining personality and the drama that sometimes surrounds his online presence. However, he has occasionally taken breaks from streaming, which he attributes to stress and burnout.

Streamer ends career and takes break

This year in particular, he was hardly on social media and things were getting quiet around him. Now Tfue has explained why he is no longer active online and what will happen next with his content. Yesterday, Tfue uploaded a 40-minute video on YouTube, titled “Goodbye”, in which he was visibly emotional. In it, Tfue reviewed his successful career in professional gaming and as a streamer, but also said he feels “trapped” in his streaming career. “I just have to live my life,” he explained. “Who knows if I’m going to come back, man? I mean, maybe, who knows. I just need time to get away, to live my life.”

“I used to use gaming to escape reality, and now I feel like I’m using reality to escape work. Sometimes I feel kind of trapped, you know? It’s fucking hard to work six, eight hours a day. I don’t have time to do anything.” “I just need to take some time off, you know? I’m 25 and I feel like I’ve spent most of my life in front of the screen. I wouldn’t take it back for the world, but I feel like I just need a break. I just need to break out for a bit.”

Burnout?

Although he didn’t explicitly say it, it almost sounds like the streamer is suffering from burnout, a problem he is no stranger to. Unfortunately, this has brought the issue of mental health back into the spotlight in the esports community. At the moment it is not clear when or if Tfue will return or if he plans to take a new path in his career in general. In any case, he will be taking a very long break for the time being.
