Sentinels get Marved because SicK is in jail

15. March 2023 by Andrew Williams

The Sentinels have signed a sixth man to replace SicK because SicK is still stuck in jail in Texas. Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen, formerly known as the best controller in the world, has now officially joined the Sentinels’ VALORANT lineup.

Marved was signed because SicK is currently absent. Hunter “SicK” Mims was suspended from the organization a few days ago for being arrested for trespassing at a Ferrari dealership. SicK is currently in the county jail being held on $5,000 bail. That means he will not participate in the upcoming VCT Americas league.

Sentinels want to support players in crisis

In a statement, the Sentinels said the team has always been and will be committed to helping its players through adversity and that Hunter is no different. “Our goal is to support Hunter through this difficult moment.”

It’s not entirely clear how far the organization’s support for the player will go, but reportedly probably quite a bit, as the Sentinels reportedly want to pay the $5,000 bail to get SicK out of the Collin County Jail in Dallas. There are also rumors that the Sentinels also want to have SicK’s sister flown to Dallas, Texas.

Marved signed as SicK’s replacement

Instead of SicK, Marved will now play in the Sentinels’ VALORANT lineup for now. The player was previously with OpTic Gaming and made a name for himself with them last year in the VCT season. With Marved’s help, OpTic won the Stage 1 Masters in Reykjavík, Iceland last year, followed by a third place finish at the Stage 2 Masters in Copenhagen, Denmark. That was followed by a win in the VCT Champions Grand Final last year against the Brazilian team of LOUD.

The Sentinels are now looking to really step it up with Marved. The VCT LOCK//IN didn’t go so gloriously, mainly because they lost directly to Fnatic, who went on to win the tournament later, but now a new era is to dawn.

The VCT Americas regular season starts already in two weeks, on April 1 and ends on May 20, the playoffs will take place from May 23 to 28. There, the final six teams will compete in a double-elimination bracket, with all games played in a Bo3 format, and the finals played in a Bo5.

The Sentinels will kick off the VCT Americas Franchise League with their opening game against the 100 Thieves.

This is the Sentinels’ current VALORANT team:

  • Rory “dephh” Jackson
  • Tyson “TenZ” Ngo
  • Bryan “pANcada” Luna
  • Gustavo “Sacy” Rossi
  • Zachary “Zekken” Patrone
  • Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen
