Overwatch 2 is set to end the year on a high note with the launch of its latest season, “Battle of the Beasts”. This new chapter in the Overwatch universe promises to captivate players with a host of fresh events, special cosmetic rewards, and the much-anticipated reset of competitive rankings.

Mauga Makes His Mark

At BlizzCon 2023, players got a glimpse of the new tank hero, Mauga, in action. Now, Mauga officially joins the Overwatch 2 roster, bringing a unique tactical edge with his dual chain guns and formidable abilities like the Charge and Heart Overload. Following player feedback, Mauga has been fine-tuned for an enhanced gaming experience.

Season 8, titled “Call of the Hunt”, introduces an epic beast-hunter-themed experience. Players can engage in a thrilling 4v4 PvPvE mode, “Battle of the Beasts”, where teams protect their beast while attempting to take down the opponent’s. This season also offers a unique opportunity to play as Mauga for free.

Weapon Designs and Winter Wonderland

  • New Weapon Designs: Introducing the ‘Rigid Light’ theme for Reinhardt, Reaper, and Mercy, offering customized visual and sound effects.
  • Winter Wonderland Event: Festive hero skins, fan-favorite modes like Mei’s Snowball Offensive, and exclusive challenges starting December 19th.

Welcoming the Lunar New Year

The season culminates with the Lunar New Year event, featuring the beloved prop hunt mode “Tricks and Magic” in Lijiang Night Market.
