After the high ticket prices for the Dota 2 Bali Major were revealed, the fan community vented its frustration on social media.

Only two tickets are available for Dota’s Bali Major, including all three tournament days. IO Esports, the tournament organizers, have confirmed this.

Dota 2 Bali Major

The Dota 2 Bali Major will occur at the luxury five-star Ayana Estate. The world’s top 18 teams will be battling for a share of the $500,000 prize pool.

Yesterday, they published the ticket prices for the third and final Dota 2 Major. For this tournament, only the following tickets will be available:

  • Basic Pack: $388.
  • VIP Pack: $888 includes exclusive access to the tournament afterparty.

When these prices were announced, the criticism from the Dota 2 community has not been long coming. One of the most repeated comments is that this tournament is designed exclusively for tourists without considering the local fans.

According to information published by the technology company Cermati, Jakarta is the richest province in the country, and the minimum wage is 4.6 million rupiahs, equivalent to approximately $310. Therefore, if we consider the cost of the tournament tickets, plus all the travel expenses, many local people cannot afford to enjoy the event live.

High ticket prices for the Dota 2 Bali Major have upset fans

Within minutes of the tournament tickets on sale on Reddit, the fan community was quick to give their opinions and complaints about the high ticket prices.

One of the Reddit users commented that he was not happy with the ticket prices as an Indonesian. This user referred to the fact that it was a tournament dedicated to tourists.

On the other hand, some users commented that to see the Major live this year, they need much more money than they needed last year for The International; it is important to mention that The International is the top Dota 2 tournament. On that occasion, fans could buy tickets per day, and each ticket was $64, much cheaper than this event in Bali.

At the same time, other users praised the ticket prices of the Manila Major in 2016. In that tournament, tickets cost $7.19 per day.
