Release Date
The Fortnite v29.20 update is expected to arrive on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, as per a series of leaks. While Epic Games has yet to confirm, it follows the usual bi-weekly update schedule, with v29.10 dropping on March 26.
Based on previous updates, downtime will likely begin around 1 AM PT / 4 AM ET / 9 AM BST and last for a few hours. During this time, servers will be offline, and players won’t be able to access the game.
Avatar Event Leaks
The v29.20 update of Fortnite will bring the highly anticipated Avatar: The Last Airbender event, according to a leak by HYPEX.
An iceberg with Aang and his loyal companion Appa has appeared on the island in recent weeks, and the event is expected to kick off once the update is deployed.
It reportedly includes an Event Pass, giving players the chance to unlock Aang as a skin, as well as an Appa Glider.
Leaks have also suggested that more thematic Mythics could arrive as part of the collaboration, following the addition of the Waterbending Mythic.
There are few details on what they will entail, but they will likely focus on the three elements Aang masters in the series: Fire, Earth, and Air.

Patch 29.20 Bug Fixes
The new update is expected to address several game bugs. While the official list has not been released, there are several bugs listed on the Epic Games Trello board marked as “fixed in a future update.”
- The visual indicator for “First Match Loss Prevention” in Ranked Battle Royale and Zero Build Ranked has been temporarily disabled.
- Stair railings in Tower Manor cannot be placed.
- Occasionally, after skipping the Rocket Racing trailer, the screen goes black and becomes unresponsive.
- Tracks sometimes have unexpected collisions.
- Console and mobile players may experience stutters when navigating the Discover Menu.
- Materials received from recycling traps are reduced.
