Understanding Alzheimer’s Through Gameplay

  • Symptom Simulation: Players navigating “Lost In The World” will encounter symptoms such as disorientation, memory lapses, and a skewed sense of time and space, mirroring the real-life experiences of Alzheimer’s patients.
  • Creative Implementation: Rodrigo González, Executive Creative Director at Momentum, highlights Fortnite’s capability to recreate worlds and interactions, making it an ideal platform for this first-of-its-kind immersive simulator.

Engaging the Gaming Community for Awareness

To promote this simulator, Momentum Spain enlisted the help of six prominent Spanish gamers: @Blachitoo, @Mrkeroro10, @Leviathan, @Irenefields, @Sophia, and @Gladoop. Their combined reach extends to an audience of 6.8 million followers.

These gamers were invited to play the new map without prior knowledge of its purpose. Their reactions and experiences are captured in the launch video, providing genuine insights into the Alzheimer’s simulation.

A Step Towards Empathy and Awareness

According to CEAFA, the objective of integrating this simulator into Fortnite is to provide players with an immersive experience that replicates the challenges faced by those living with Alzheimer’s.

By introducing this experience in a virtual environment popular among youth, it aims to increase awareness, empathy, and involvement in the cause, breaking down stigmas and fostering understanding.
