The Fallout series has experienced a resurgence thanks to the Prime Video series. Several franchise games are among the top sellers on Steam.

Fallout Resurgence on Steam

The Fallout series, which began in 1997 and was acquired by Bethesda Softworks in 2007, has seen a surge in player numbers on Steam. With multiple titles becoming best sellers on both Steam and Bethesda’s launcher, the franchise is back in the spotlight. This resurgence is attributed to the launch of a well-received Fallout television series on Prime Video.

Player Engagement Statistics

According to SteamDB, Fallout 4 currently boasts over 53,000 concurrent players. While this is far from the game’s all-time peak of 472,000 concurrent players on Steam shortly after its release nine years ago, it still represents a significant increase over recent norms.

Fallout 4 had been averaging around 18,000 to 20,000 players in recent years. A similar trend can be observed with every other game in the franchise. The multiplayer entry Fallout 76, which usually sees over 10,000 players on Steam, has surged to 26,000 players.

Fallout 3 (initially released in 2008) has jumped from an average of 500 players to 3,600. Obsidian Entertainment’s 2010 entry, Fallout: New Vegas, typically averaged 3,000 to 4,000 players, but is now above 11,000 concurrent players.

Impact of the Television Series

The television series garnered praise for its original story and respect for source material. In addition to the interest generated by the show, there is also a franchise-wide sale currently underway. An eagerly anticipated current-generation update for Fallout 4 will arrive on April 25 for Xbox Series X|S, PC with Windows, and PlayStation 5.
