RedPoop and ESA have recently made their separation official. On the other hand, it has been made official that there will be no in-person E3 for 2024 at the Convention Center in Los Angeles, where it has been held previously.
Likely, E3 will not be held again the following year. That’s according to an announcement made today by RedPoop, the organization contracted to handle the edition that didn’t take place this year, and the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), the group of video game companies that organizes the event.
RedPoop and ESA Announce Separation
The two entities announced their partnership’s end just 14 months after they began working together to organize E3. This is the first indication that E3 2024 will not be held, but it is not the only one: the ESA has also confirmed that there will be no face-to-face event at the Los Angeles Convention Center. This venue is where E3, the video game trade show, has traditionally been held.
The split between the ESA and RedPoop has been by mutual agreement, even though the originally signed agreement spanned several years. Kyle Marsden-Kish, RedPoop’s head of video game events, has said he has enjoyed the partnership with ESA. In the statement, Marsden-Kish reports that although he will not be involved in the future of E3, we look forward to seeing its evolution and where the ESA takes it.
On the other hand, it is important to note that technically, E3 2024 has not been canceled, but several things are already known about the video game show. We know it will not be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center. At the same time, we already know that it will not be organized by RedPoop, the company in charge of organizing PEX West, which is being held in Seattle, USA, this weekend.
ESA studies new ways to organize E3
According to information from Gamesindustry.biz, ESA is preparing to reinvent the 2025 E3 completely, which suggests that the 2024 E3 will not be held in 2025.
According to the president and CEO of video game companies, Stanley Pierre-Louis, they are looking for new ways to hold E3 in the future. At the same time, Stanley Pierre-Louis commented that E3 is unparalleled in the video game industry.
On the other hand, Stanley Pierre-Louis commented:
“We are constantly looking for ways to improve E3 and are evaluating all facets of the event. We can better serve the video game industry from the format to the venue. In the coming months, we look forward to delivering news about E3 and staying true to our commitment to serve as a convener of the industry.”
On the other hand, it is important to note that the event with its edition confirmed for 2024 is The Summer Game Fest. Geoff Keighley, the event organizer, has been in charge of reminding us on his Twitter account, which also coincides with the announcement about E3 2024.
